Vasilii Rozanov (1856-1919) was a theater lover and wrote a great deal about Russian theater. This is the first monograph on his critical and philosophical views on the theater of the 19th-20th centuries. The book describes Rozanov`s vision of the art of acting, his reviews of the Antique cycle of plays in the Aleksandrinskii theater and his views on modern and classical Russian plays.
