This is the fifth volume of the Russian Folklore Collection, Series “Bylinas”, started by the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkinskii Dom). The first two volumes embrace bylinas of the Pechora River region of the Russian North, the next three volume include bylinas of the Mesen River, also in the Russian North. Volume five contains 159 illustrations, both black-and-white and color. Many bylinas are provided with scores. Dictionary of obsolete words. Started in 2002.
