Mark Rozovskii (b. 1937) is a famous Russian theater director and the artistic director of the theater "U Nikitskikh Vorot" in Moscow. This book consists of three chapters. All three are transcripts of his discussions with students about his interpretations of Chekhov`s plays in his theater. The first one is "The Cherry Orchard", the second "Uncle Vanya" (Also available: Chtenie "Diadi Vani". New York: Slovo-Word: 1996. $15.00). The third is about the Chekhov`s four page story Spat` Khochetsia. The author offers an original vision and understanding of these works different from all previous productions known to him.
