Nashchokina, Mariia Moskovskii Modern
[ Moscow art nouveau]
Moscow: Zhiraf, 2003 558 p Hardcover. 20 x 26 cm ISBN: 5898320334 Language: RussianArt nouveau was a leading style in Moscow architecture at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries. This is the second book by Mariia Nashchokina about this period. The first monograph, One hundred Architects of Moscow Art Nouveau (2000), contained biographical sketches of the architects who distinguished themselves in this style. The current study is focused on tracing Eastern-European influence on Moscow art nouveau, and on comparing this unique style with its European modifications. Almost a third of the book is taken by a catalog of Moscow art nouveau buildings (130 entries). Richly illustrated. Many photographs are published for the first time. Glossy paper.
