Pen`kovskii, A.B Nina: Kul`turnyi Mif Zolotogo Veka Russkoi Literatury v Lingvisticheskom Osveshchenii
[ Nina: A Cultural myth of the golden age of Russian literature in a linguistic light]
2nd upd. and enl. ed
Moscow: Indrik, 2003 638 p Hardcover. 14 x 21.5 cm ISBN: 5857592062 Language: RussianThis book is a result of many years of study of the Russian language, culture, everyday life and literature of the late 18th to the first third of the 19th centuries. The author focused on two masterpieces of that epoch: Maskarad by M. Lermontov and Evgenii Onegin by A. Pushkin. He interprets both works in the context of the "myth of Nina (name of the heroine of Maskarad)", or the myth of Cleopatra. Based on this myth the author offers new explanations for Lermntov`s tragedy and Pushkin`s verse novel.
