According to the author`s plan The Northern War was part of a trilogy about the Russian fight against aggressors. This volume also includes an appendix, an article by S. Romanov, Russian Conquista (pp. 585-654), where he is trying to balance Tarle`s approach, and offers a different interpretation of many events during the twelve year war.
