Vasilii Nemirovich-Danchenko (1844-1936), a popular writer and journalist, the older brother of the famous theater director Vl.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko (1858-1943), wrote this book of memoirs in emigration (1922). He was the author of about 250 books but after emigration his books were removed from all libraries, and his name was crossed out from the history of Russian literature.
