K.D. Kavelin (1818-1885) and B.N. Chicherin (1829-1904) were the best known Russian political philosophers, legal scholars and historians, originators of "the state organization theory" (Gosudarstvennaia Shkola) in Russian historiography, leaders of the liberal, western oriented wing in the Russian social movement. They left many works on the philosophy of law, history, constitutional law, monarchy, government, and current writings.
