Chechenskii Dnevnik Okopnogo Generala
[ My war : Chechen diary of a trench general]
Moscow: Vagrius, 2001 382 p. [40 ill.] Hardcover. 15 x 21 cm ISBN: 5264006571 Language: RussianGeneral Troshev (d. 2008) is a new type of Russian general. Unlike many other Russian officers, who are not used to any dialog with the society and taxpayers, Troshev understands that the information war is probably as important as military actions. First he exhausted the Chechen insurgents and drove them into the mountains, and then consolidated his success by writing this book. His memoirs cover both wars in Chechnya, and explain the motivation and strategy of the Russian Federation army in the region. However he was dismissed from Chechnya for his views on the war, and this book cost him any further military career.
