Many Russians first learned about Nikolai Timofeev-Resovskii (1900-1981), one of the greatest biologists of the 20th century, from the novel Zubr by Daniil Granin. One of the most productive periods of Timofeev-Resovskii`s life was his 20 years of research in Germany. He returned to Russia after WWII, and was sent to a labor camp where he spent ten years. This novel was finished in 1987. In addition to the novel, this book includes an essay about the author by V. Oskotskii, another novel by Granin Begstvo v Rossiiu (Escape to Russia), and the essay Chuzhoi Dnevnik (Somebody`s Diary) (1987). The series publishes the best in Russian literature of the soviet period. Other volumes in the series and standing order are available.
