This is the most complete biography of Prince Grigorii Potemkin (1739-1791), a great statesman and military leader in the court of Catherine the Great. In 1762 he participated in the coup that brought Catherine to the throne. After her ascension Potemkin became her main aide and a favorite: no important decision was made without his participation. Catherine the Second called him "a great man who did not bring into life even half of his brilliant ideas". Also available by the same author: Geopoliticheskie Proekty G.A. Potemkina (2000).
