Language: RussianPrelate Innokentii (Veniaminov) (1797-1879), Moscow and Kolomna Metropolitan, left many theological and pedagogical works, scientific works, missionary and travel notes, documents, and letters. Ivan Evseevich Popov, his original name, was born in a small Siberian village near the city of Irkutsk. He spent 45 years as a missionary in Siberia and the Far North. This is the first academic study of the main areas of his activities in his last ten years: May 1868 to March 1879. Mitropolitan Innokentii was also chairman of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Moscow, founder of new brotherhoods, churches and monasteries in Russia and abroad, member of the Synod and several religious schools.
