After the Revolution of 1917, new forms of workers` self-government, "Plant and Factory Commissions" (Fabzavkomy) were born. The author describes the Revolution as a turn towards self organization. According to the book, the initial tendencies of self-government soon gave way to rigid centralization imposed by the state elite. This led many modern historians to downplay the significance of Fabzavkomy. This book offers social and psychological analysis of workers` movement and examines the role of workers` self-administration in post-revolutionary developments.
