[ The Domestic life of a Russian family in an Estonian town]
Moscow: Institut Etnologii i Antropologii RAN, 1996 183 p Serie: Biblioteka Rossiiskogo Etnografa pbk. Printing 200 ISBN: No ISBN ISSN: ISSN 0868-586X Language: Russian
The authors felt that inter-ethnic relationships on a family level in a small town rather than a large industrial city more accurately reflects the position of the Russian population in the whole republic of Estonia. Unlike in the large Estonian cities, in the towns the Russian population is relatively small, and Russian families are surrounded by Estonians. This collected work studies the domestic life of a modern Russian family with children: their demographic portrait, housing conditions, family budget, family roles and ways of raising children, family traditions and food, leisure, circle of social contacts, etc. The survey was conducted in 1989-1990, just before Estonia became an independent state.
