Printing 300 ISBN: No ISBN ISSN: 0868-586X Language: RussianThe main subject of this posthumous edition is the physical type of the northern population of Russia. The linguistic, folklore, and anthropological data were gathered in 1953-1957 and continue to be significant. More than 80 territorial groups were examined. Apart from Russians, the author studied the neighboring Karels, Udmurts, Vepses, and Saams. As Russian eastward migration was proceeding through populated territories, it is considered important to define the share of native and new population in forming the East Slavic ethnic type. A 30 page article is followed by bibliography, maps and tables characterizing the facial proportions of various groups.
