This volume of the series Russian Fates includes two works about Fedor Dostoevskii (1821-1881) and Dostoevskii`s diary for January, 1877. The first work (pp. 11-488) is a biography of the great writer by Iurii Seleznev (1939-1984). The second work is three speeches about Dostoevskii by the outstanding Russian philosopher Vladimir Solov`ev. Dostoevskii`s diary touched upon a wide spectrum of public issues which concerned Russian society in 1877.
