O. Mandel’shtam was one of the most eminent Russian men of letters who fell victim of Stalin`s regime. A tradition has been established to consider Mandel’shtam as a poet who opposed Soviet power and its ideology. This book revises the traditional opinion. Mandel’shtam’s two largest works written in 1937 are analyzed: "Ode to Stalin" and "Verses on the Unknown Soldier".
