This book is a collected work by two Russian philologists living in the USA. It is about Russian poetry and prose of the 19th and 20th centuries, particularly Pushkin, Tolstoi, Chekhov, Akhmatova, Nabokov, etc. The authors apply their own original analytical method called "theme-text". Iuri Shcheglov (d. 2009) was a professor of University Wisconsin-Madison.
