This monograph studies the language changes of the small indigenous nations of Northern Siberia and the Far East that happened in the 1960-1990s. Many of these nations are on their way to extinction, they speak a relatively unexplored language. This circumstance makes studies of their languages especially valuable. Part one describes data of several language censuses. This part is can be used as a handbook. The second part contains the author`s interpretation of the language shifts: analysis of registered trends in the context of economic, social, and political changes in last 50-70 years. This work is based on more then 25 years of the author`s studies in the region of Northern Russia and the Far East. Bibliography (pp. 315-338).
