This is the academic biography of philosopher and writer Vasilii Rozanov (1856-1919) whose works became known to the general reader only in the last decade. He was perceived by his contemporaries as a preacher of the "philosophy of sex" because nobody else paid so much attention to family and sexual life as he did. Rozanov was the first writer to introduce fragments of "the stream of consciousness" into literature 10 years before James Joyce published his "Ulysses", but this was largely ignored. Rozanov reflected the mental confusion which set upon man in the face of historical ruptures brought about by the commencing century. A. Nikoliukin is the editor and compiler of the Rozanov`s sixteen volume collected works. Chronology of life, bibliography.
