This book began as a publication of Akhmatova`s letters to Naiman with his comments, and as such was published in 1989. The second edition included several additional essays. This third edition in comparison with the second one (Vagrius, 1999) includes one more essay about Akhmatova`s poetry, and prose from her archives.
