Language: RussianThis is the most complete collection of the works of the notable Russian historian and philologist Aleksei Shakmatov (1864-1920) on the history of Russian chronicles. After many years of research and comparison of old versions, he found the original versions for many of the chronicles, restored their order and the interconnection of the main steps of chroniclers` work up to the 16th century. This edition preserved the author`s original style, which he developed in close contact with Old Russian language. The book is supplemented by an article from the New Encyclopedic Dictionary by Brokgauz and Efron by Shakhmatov, and the introduction to the 1928 edition by M. Priselkov.
