Stolypin (1862 - 1911) was a conservative statesman who, after the Russian Revolution of 1905, initiated far-reaching agrarian reforms to improve the legal and economic status of the peasantry, as well as the general economy and political climate. This monograph studies Stopypin`s activity against a background of the political and economic history of Russia at the beginning of the 20th century. The author identifies the origins of Stolypin`s policy particularly of his agrarian reform in Siberia. This book also contains the story of his assassination by the terrorist D.
