Town of Polotsk was taken by Ivan Groznyi in 1563. This book is a new publication of the Polotsk register book of 1567-1572 (Lithuanian Metrica # 573). It describes the distribution of land and the system of nobility and the Church land ownership after it became part of Russian state. This book is a valuable source on the politics of Ivan Groznyi on the lands bordering the Russian state. The book includes the Metrica, a codicological description of it by K.Iu. Erusalimskii, an introductory article by V.Iu. Ermak, an afterword by A.I. Filiushkin, and indices.
