[ Secret aspects of the Penkovskii case : An unrecognised victory for Russia]
Moscow: Veche, 2013 336 p. [8 ill.] Serie: Grif sekretnosti sniat Hardcover. 14 x 21 cm ISBN: 9785444413845 Language: Russian
A colonel of the Russian Military Intelligence Service (GRU) Oleg Pen`kovskii, who for many years was considered a traitor was in fact a Russian agent who volunteered to cooperate with his western colleagues and became a double agent. He was called "The man who saved the world". It was Pen`kovskii who informed his western colleagues about the construction of missile launching pads in Cuba in 1962. Pen`kovskii`s trial in Moscow was reported in the soviet press in 1963. This current book turns all our ideas about this case upside down. Maksimov suggests that Pen`kovskii (1919-1963?) was not executed by the Russian government, but simply changed his identity. (0.305 kg.). Also available on the subject: Pen`kovskii, O. Zapiski iz Tainika (2000). Maksimov, A.B. Glavnaia Taina GRU (2013).
