This is the first volume of the complete collection of Ivan Bunin`s letters to his friends, relatives, and colleagues for 1885 - 1905. The 730 letters included in this volume are a kind of autobiography of his youth, his first literary works, his trips in Russia and abroad. Ivan Bunin (1870-1953) did not have a great opinion about his own letters, and asked that they not be published. However, about half these letters were published previously, another half is published here for the first time in this volume. Indices.
