This book by Russian by Russian historian Petr Vasil`evich Golubovskii (1857–1907) based on chronicles, Greek and Arabic sources, and archaeological materials is about one of the old Eastern Slav people located at the basins of rivers Desna, Seima and Sula. This territory was colonized by the Khazars, and lost its independence by 1346. One of the chapters deals with the spread of Christianity in this land long before it was introduced to Kiev.
