According to some memoirs the Odessa dwellers felt themselves quite comfortable under the occupation of Hitler`s allies, the Romanian army led by Antomescu. The author of this book argues with this version, and shows that the occupation was a period of great terror for some Odessaites and a period of economic freedom for the others. This book is based on the materials housed in the Bakhmeteff Archive at Columbia University (New York, NY).
