This is one of the most complete biographies of the great Russian writer Mikhail Bulgakov (1891-1940). Viktor Peterlin (b. 1929) started to collect material for this book in the 1960s when Bulgakov`s works were published for the first time by the heroic effort of his wife Elena Sergeevna.
