Ivanov, a professor at three universities, one of the most influential modern scholars in linguistics, semiotics of culture and poetics, Indo-European languages, folklore and mythology. He was one of the founders of the Moscow-Tartu Semiotic School. The book is truly a collection of works of what is called an invisible college, whose members are spread over the world.
