Language: RussianPriamur`e became one of the priorities in the Russian foreign policy at the end of the 19th century, which resulted in the formation of a new administrative district with it own governor general in 1884. One of the problems the new administration was to deal with was a mass infiltration of Chinese citizen into Russian territory. Practically all economic activity was carried out by the Chinese population. This book studies the Chinese labor force in three industries, agriculture, trade and crafts, and local policy towards immigrants. The subject of this book became recently especially actual in connection with a new wave of illegal Chinese immigration in the 1990s.
