This is a photo reprint of a book by Russian ethnographer Vladimir Petrovich Nalivkin (1852-1918) about the Turkic-Mongol population of the Turkestan region at the beginning of the 20th century. The focus of his study is the social and economic changes which happened to the local population after the Russians came to this region.
