This book includes selected papers from the voluminous “Letters to my people” by M.O. Men’shikov (1859-1918). From 1901 to 1917 Men’shikov was a leading columnist of the most influential Russian paper “New Times” edited by Suvorin. He was the main ideologist and initiator of the “Russian National Union”, the first nationalist organization in Russia, which proclaimed as its goal “restitution of not just Russian domination, but of the very capacity of Russian people to shape their own state”. Men’shikov’s lively political and economic writings are unreservedly anti-Semitic. There are articles on Tolstoi, on theater, the unification of churches, on Dostoevskii, Belinskii, etc.
