This monograph studies existential motifs and intertextual poetics of Gaito Gazdanov (1903-1971), a Russian emigre writer of Ossetian origin. It analyzes Gazdanov’s works in the context of Russian pre-existential (N. Gogol, . Chekhov, F. Dostoevskii, . Tolstoi, V. Rozanov, L. Shestov) and European existential (Gabriel Marcel, Louis-Ferdinand Celine, Albert Camus, Jean-Paul Sartre) traditions. The monograph also analyzes the artistic dialog between Gazdanov and the newest representatives of "neo-existential" consciousness such as Russian emigres V.V. Nabokov, B.Iu. Poplavskii, G.V. Ivanov i dr. (0.525 kg.). Also available by Gaito Gazdanov. Vozvrashchenie Buddy: Romany (2006)
