This is a collection of letters of a student of the St. Petersburg university A.A. Smirnov (1883-1962) to his friend and distant cousin, the painter S.I. Terk (1885-1979). The letters are dated 1904-1928 and cover the artistic and intellectual life of St. Petersburg and Paris. Smirnov will become a recognized Russian specialist in the history of Western European literatures and translator, Sonia will marry painter Robert Delaunay and become herself a well known painter of the avant-garde movement. Smirnov`s letters are a brilliant example of the epistolary genre of the beginning the 20th century. (0.665 kg.)
