Sokolov (1882-1924), a Russian lawyer, received an appointment from the White Army dictator, the Siberian Admiral Kolchak to be Examining Magistrate of the Most Important Cases on the Omsk Circuit Court. He was assigned to investigate the murder of the Tsar’s family in Ekaterinburg, and completed a thorough investigation and an inspection of the burial site (“Four mines”). The main part of the current book is a memoir of prince A.K. Golitsyn, a former member of the Russian State Commission on identification of "tsars remnants" in 1993-98. According to him and several other experts, the twenty-year long attempt of identification of "tsars remnants" not only did not shed light on the issue but raised even more questions.
