The author of the book is Quartermaster General of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander Iurii Danilov (1866-1937), one of the key developers of strategic operations of the Russian Army in 1914-1915. He tells the story of heroic battles of the Russian Expeditionary Corps against Germany on the fronts of France and Macedonia in 1916-1918. Iu. Danilov served in the Volunteer army (The White movement) after the revolution and emigrated to France.
