On this day a number of St. Petersburg aristocrats, mostly officers who had fought against the Napoleonic invasion of 1812, staged an uprising in protest against autocracy and serfdom. Research on the "Decembrist" movement flourished in the 1920s, but was then restricted by heavy ideological control. The current issue continues systematic research in the area. It includes articles on the Decembrists, memoirs, publications of interrogation materials, and new research on Decembrism. Also contains a bibliography of recent works on the subject.
