This volume of the series “History of Russia and the House of Romanov in the Memoirs of Contemporaries" consists of four works about the events prior to and of the Petrine epoch: the end of the 17th-early 18th centuries. The first one by an unknown author is translated from Polish. It describes the Strelets rebellion in May of 1682 in Moscow and the allocation of political forces between two court parties. The second is the diary of the secretary of the Austrian embassy J.-G. Korb. Another diary included belongs to a member of the Russian Duma Ivan Zheliabuzhskii. The last work is a memoir of the Russian statesman Andrei Matveev. Comments, name index, afterword by S. Shokorev.
