Russia`s transition to a market economy brought about the need to adequately reflect the changes taking place in the social and economic life of the country. The former statistical system, set up on the basis of a material production system (MPS) until 1990, was replaced with that used in most Western market economies, the System of National Accounts (SNA). The consistency of interrelated accounts reflecting the flows linked with various types of economic transactions during a particular period is the key element of the system. This handbook shows the dynamics from 1995 to 2001 by the following indicators: the value, volume indices, and structure of the gross domestic product (GDP) and its main components; production of goods and services; generation, distribution, redistribution and use of income; sources of financing investment and changes in capital; external transactions and others, as well as brief methodological explanatory notes.
