The book is the first biography of the remarkable commander and bright personality, a Russian statesman and military figure during the Time of Troubles, Mikhail Vasil`evich Skopin-Shuiskii (1586-1610). He freed Moscow from Dmitrii the Pretender and his creatures two years before Minin and Pozharsky put together the Russian army against the Polish invasion.
