This is a book of memoirs of two prisoners of WWII, a tank crewman Vladimir Titov (1917-1999) and a naval gunner Aleksandr Malofeev (1921-1999). There is a lot in common in their life. They were drafted at the very beginning of the Great Patriotic War and were captured the same year. Both of them escaped from captivity: one of them five, the other four times. They even died the same year. What makes these memoirs special is that they show the war not from the official but from a personal point of view.
