The seventeenth volume of the series includes articles on language, history, and musical culture of the small indigenous people of Siberia Chalkans. The Chalkan langauge is a dialect of the Altaic group of languages. The Siberian linguistic school founded by professor M. I. Cheremisina has been working on the creation of a meta-language and research method which will permit description of various languages of Siberia. Started in 1995. Volumes 1-16 are also available.
