Since 1989 Panorama of Russia has specialized in academic and reference publications from the Russian Federation and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
This volume includes critical and philosophical works of one of the ideologues of Russian conservatism (pochvenichestvo) N.N. Strakhov (1828-1896). He was a philosopher, biologist, literary critic and journalist in one person. V. Rozanov called Strakhov his god-father. This group, following their teachers, the Slavophiles of 1830-1840, called the nobility to realize their orientation towards Western ideals and estrangement from the Russian people, to press themselves close to Russian soil (pochva), and reunite with their own people.
