Genaral Valentin Varennikov (1923-2009), started his military service on the Stalingrad front in 1942, and fought until the end of WWII. He finished his career as commander-in-chief of the USSR army and deputy minister of defense (1889-1991). He took part in the coup-d`etat in 1991, and was the only one who did not plead guilty and did not ask for a pardon. He served some time in jail. This book is about little known details of the trial of the leaders of the State Committee for the Extraordinary Situation (Gosudarstvennyi Komitet po Chrezvychainomu Polozheniiu).
