This publication continues the series of anthologies of Russian critical thought. The volume includes works by the best known and influential Russian critics of the 40s of the nineteenth century: K. Aksakov, V. Belinskii, V. Maikov, P. Pletnev, N. Polevoi, Iu. Samarin, O. Senkovskii, and S. Shevyrev. There were three main literary discussions during this period: about Gogol`s work Dead Souls, Pushkin`s novel Evgenii Onegin, and the so called `natural school`.
