In the changing context of Russian reality, ethnic tolerance is a burning issue. According to the author of this report, tolerance is a situational phenomenon deeply entrenched in objective ethnopolitical, ethnocultural, and socio-economic processes. The author identifies some of the factors that influence the level of tolerance and determine the forms of its manifestation. The paper is based on the author`s field work and representative ethno-sociological surveys of 1993-1997. Bibliographical references.
