This book studies the imperial policy of Catharine II through her political practice, in particular her trips within Russia. Among the main directions of her policy were: restriction of the liberties of the Ostsee nobility; formation of an ideology of ethnocultural tolerance; interrelations between authorities and local elites, ceremonial of the Empress as an instrument of the legitimization of power, etc. The monograph is based on documents of several archives of cities visited by Catherine II.
