Shubin, A.V Anarkhistskii Sotsial`nyi Eksperiment
Ukraina i Ispaniia: 1917-1939 gg
[ The Anarchist social experiment : Ukraine and Spain: 1917-1939]
Moscow: Institut Vseobshcheii Istorii, 1998 231 p pbk. 13 x 20 cm. Printing 300 ISBN: 5201005101 Language: RussianAnarchism and anarchists were given a chance to implement their social ideas only twice in this century. The first was during the Russian revolution on the territory of Ukraine in 1917-1921. The second was in Spain in 1936-39. Both times it was not a pure social experiment, because it was aggravated by a constant struggle for survival with other political forces. The ongoing revival of anarchist ideology in Russia and its first manifestations in political life makes studies of their past especially important. The author analyzes the social platforms and transformations made by anarchists in their two previous political appearances, their principal differences from communists, describes their achievements in creating a democratic society, and their failures.
