Filaret (Drozdov, 1782-1867), metropolitan of Moscow and Kolomenskoe, was an outstanding Russian theologian, priest, and statesman of the nineteenth century. The Russian Synod ranked the metropolitan among the Russian Orthodox Saints. This annual collection includes eight articles on various aspects of his activities: theology, religious philosophy, administrative activities in the Church, and participation in the cultural and intellectual life of Russia.
